Summer harvest & new blog format

As the farm (and our son!) continue to grow, I’ve decided to revamp the blog with monthly posts rather than the previous weekly posts. I’ll plan to post at the beginning of each month with a farm update and a list of the items we hope to have available at the market at some point that month. Right now, we’re heavy into the work of both summer harvest and fall planting. The beets, cauliflower, and cabbage are already in the ground and the fall kale and collards will be planted next week. By mid-August, we’ll move back into seeding successions of radishes, turnips, and other cool season crops.

Its officially tomato season, so make sure to pick up both slicing and cherry tomatoes at the markets this month as this summer favorite only really peaks during the month of August. We’re also seeing the sweet peppers begin to change from green to yellow and red, which is always exciting for us as we use peppers regularly in cooking. Below is a list of crops we expect to harvest this month and we look forward to seeing all of you at the markets!

What a great tomato line up. Good idea on the monthly format. Harvesting tomatoes alone is a big job along w/all the other crops. And now planting for fall, yikes. Glad you had the extra help the last week or so. Looking forward to our return.
